Craftybase

Hello! Just a nudge to suggest you look at CraftyBase as a possible integration -- there's a whole user base out there using CB with Etsy along with Shopify and similar, just waiting for a great solution. :D

I use Craftase extensively for my handmade jewelry biz. It's not at all for the same thing as Trunk. Unfortunately, CB does not currently have an API for developers like Trunk to access. But if enough of us keep asking, maybe they will add it! :) If it was possible, I'd also love CB integration with Trunk. PS - I currently sync my CB account with Shopify and Amazon.
Mark Cramer - CB can be used with or without being connected to your sales channel. If it is connected, it is so orders can "manufacture" my products using my materials based on product "recipes" and adjust raw materials down accordingly. It's not for sync'ing product inventory across channels for sales management. E.g., it does not sync inventory numbers out to Shopify. I enter my inventory available to sell on Shopify itself. CB is fantastic at what it does, which is a lot, but not what Trunk does. cheers, c-

Unless I am missing something, the CraftyBase I know is a much more expensive competitor to Trunk?

Mark Cramer: Oh, I replied to your thought with my post above. :)

Cynthia Kay Schmidt: thanks -- from my original review of their webpage, I remember them stressing inventory synchronization. Just checked again, and the focus is more about back-end accounting and inventory (as in component / piece parts) and not finished products.
Wondering - CB syncs with Shopify and Shopify syncs with Trunk... Trunk then syncs with Etsy, Amazon, Faire, etc. - does this not work?

Mark Cramer: It would be great if CB could do that - BUT…
CB only has read-access to the marketplaces it syncs with. It pulls into CB your products and orders. It doesn’t write anything.
And, sadly, there is no public API available to develop a solution that could pull the data from CB to use as we are both imagining. I hope they add API access. However, I think most people using CB are not techie, so they aren’t thinking about what could be done with an API so aren’t asking for it.
And… even if CB did sync both directions, CB currently doesn’t have a specific product property for “quantity I can offer to sell”. They have other properties that are filled in when you do a “manufacture” (and some other actions) for your products - but that is different.
For me, I look at the manufacturing "recipes” for my individual products and mentally figure out how many products I can offer for sale based on the quantity of raw materials my recipe shows I have on hand in my workshop. Unfortunately, there is no product property I can save that mentally calculated # into on CB. Instead, I mentally calculate that # and immediately use it to enter my inventory qty for sale on Shopify, Amazon, etc.
Since I make my jewelry as it’s ordered, and I can’t have huge piles of raw materials just sitting in my workshop, I end up having small quantities I offer for sale on my different channels. It’s tricky to decide what qty to offer on different channels and I always have a risk of over-selling, which is why I’m looking to use a solution like Trunk.
Whew! I wrote a lot! :) Hope that answered your question.
I tried not to get too deep into CB details, but if you are interested in learning more about CB, let me know. We could always continue the convo offline. :)
cheers,
