I would like to be able to manage the inventory of my materials without making listings, for my products that we produce in bulk, so I know when to order more. I will probably get AIMS360 for this, but only because I'm already trained in it and can get it for free after my certification.
Danila Shephard: I use Craftybase.com to track all my materials, create "recipes" for my products, and much more. I sell handmade jewelry, so lots of material inventory to track across many products for both individual "manufacturing" and bulk.
Cynthia Kay Schmidt: so you use CraftyBase for materials and Trunk for actual inventory?
Sheena Mays: Yes, exactly. Here’s more detail if you are interested… I make/sell handmade jewelry. Selling retail, I make each product to order using the materials I have on-hand. I use Craftybase (CB) to track all of my materials used to make my final products. CB does more than that, though. For each product, I have “recipes” in CB so that I can “manufacture” a product in CB and it will automatically adjust my material stock based on the product's recipe. CB also has components, so I can make a product out of multiple components - e.g. I might sell a pair of earrings as a product, a necklace as a product, and then have a set with both as a third product. So the earrings and necklace could be made as components and they would be used to make the set as a product. I mention that since the original posted question is related to that type of thing. CB also connects to some sales channels (i.e., Shopify, Amazon, Etsy). This connection will sync orders from those channels so each product’s orders are also updated and you can use auto-manufacture and let CB automatically adjust your materials per the orders. Given that all of my material info is tracked in CB, to know how many products I can offer to sell, I must look at my product on CB. E.g., if I have enough to make 20 of a product, I have to manually split that number up across my sales channels so I don’t oversell. That’s where Trunk comes in for the product level inventory management. If I could, I’d have Trunk connect to CB and that would be a perfect end-to-end solution. But that won’t happen cuz (1) CB doesn’t offer API access and (2) not enough people use CB for Trunk to want to do that and (3) not enough people use Trunk for CB to add support for Trunk. Bummer! cheers, c-
Cynthia Kay Schmidt: OR, if Trunk would implement a way to track raw materials. They try to push you to the material component aspect, but I do paper goods and I need to know levels for reordering purposes, for example, I have 25 dark purple envelopes left - it's time to reorder, or I have 50 card cello sleeves left, time to reorder, etc. I really love Trunk, but I just truly want a system that does it all. I agree. Bummer.
Make the pendant a seperate component of the finished product?
Marleena Barran This should already be supported. Could you please reach out to support with which example SKUs you're trying to do this for? More info here: https://help.trunkinventory.com/en/articles/4594092-example-…
Already supported through bundling / kitting feature.
